Trudeau is facing harsh criticism after Canada was excluded from a new international defence pact with its allies.
On Wednesday, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States announced a new intelligence sharing agreement meant to counter Chinese influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
Canada already shares intelligence with Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States and New Zealand – an agreement known as the Five Eyes – but was not included in the new pact, dubbed AUKUS.
Leaders of both the Conservative and New Democratic parties quickly criticized Trudeau for Canada’s exclusion, suggesting it reflected a failure by the Liberal government to engage with key allies and to take a stand against China.

“This is another example that Mr. Trudeau is not taken seriously by our friends and allies around the world,” said O’Toole on Thursday. “Canada is becoming more irrelevant under Mr. Trudeau.”
O’Toole said he would seek to join the new Indo-Pacific security arrangement if the Conservatives are elected and further ties with Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom under a CANZUK arrangement, involving closer trade and mobility agreements between the four nations.
Trudeau, however, downplayed the broader significance of the AUKUS pact.
“This is a deal for nuclear submarines, which Canada is not currently or any time soon in the market for. Australia is.”
This snub from Canada’s closest allies is just proof that if you go woke, you go broke.
It is no coincidence that the UK, the United States and Australia have been included in this pact and are strong, foreign affairs focused allies who have taken strong stances against China.
It is also no coincidence that Canada (and even New Zealand) have been excluded and are run by woke Prime Ministers who would rather cozy up to the communist regime in China rather than take a stance against their brutal totalitarianism.
No wonder our allies abroad don’t trust us and don’t want us as part of future security pacts moving forward. This is humiliating for Canada and a clear sign of how far our nation’s trust has fallen under Trudeau.
