Conservative Party leader, Erin O’Toole, has come out in favour of all Canadian Armed Forces members being fully vaccinated according to federal mandates.
The announcement came after the Federal Court rejected a request by some military members for exemption from a vaccine mandate order.
O’Toole, a veteran, had a direct message to those serving in the Canadian Armed Forces hesitant to get the jab:
“My message to the military, military families right now is simple. Thank you for your service. The vaccines are safe and effective. Ask questions to military doctors…and make sure you’re part of our fight against COVID-19. I think everyone in uniform should be vaccinated.”
Members were to get vaccinated by the end of November – a deadline which was extended to December 18th – or face remedial measures, including possible dismissal from the military. After an unjust court ruling, the mandate will continue and force many CAF members to make a difficult choice; vaccinate or lose their jobs.
The order follows a similar requirement for all federal public servants as the Liberal government sought to set an example for all Canadians to get vaccinated. The Liberals have also said that order is intended to protect the military during the pandemic.
The Canadian Armed Forces are a tremendous pride of our nation who frequently risk their lives to protect our freedoms and rights. The vaccine mandate – supported by O’Toole and Trudeau – is a slap in the face to our service men and women who swore to protect our nation from tyranny.
Our military personnel are frequently on the front lines, under severe threats of being bombed, shot, captured a tortured. But hey, that doesn’t matter. The most important thing to protect them is to ensure that they are vaccinated against a virus with an average survival rate of 99.6%.
