Saskatchewan Premier, Scott Moe, is accusing Justin Trudeau of unfair treatment over his threat to private MRI clinics.
Moe reacted to Trudeau’s campaign statement this week, promising that if the Liberals win a majority government, they will claw back health fund transfers to Saskatchewan if MRI patient charges are not eliminated.
In Saskatchewan, private clinics can charge patients for MRI tests as long as they also provide scans to those on the public waiting list.
Over the years, this provision has proven to be a tangible benefit, removing more than 10,000 scans from the public wait list.
However, Trudeau is now threatening the province by stating that health transfer funds from Ottawa will be minimized if Saskatchewan does not eliminate this system.

Other provinces, including Quebec and Ontario, have long had private MRI clinics operating within their jurisdictions, yet Trudeau has not threatened cuts to health funding in these provinces, even when clinics in his own riding offer private services.
“It is disappointing that the Liberal leader is seeking to politicize health care by only now taking issue with this innovative practice during the campaign, seemingly to distract from real issues that should be discussed during an election that he called,” said Moe.
“We need a federal government that unites the country, not divides it further, especially on important national issues like health care.”
Yet more trash politics from Trudeau.
It is no coincidence that the Liberal Party leader is throwing down threats like this to a conservative province, when provinces like Ontario and Quebec – which the Liberals rely heavily on to win elections – get a free pass.
Having private clinics provide MRI services to patients in Saskatchewan has proven to be beneficial for reducing waiting times. However, Trudeau would rather threaten Moe and risk people’s health and livelihoods just to show himself as top dog in this fight.
Canada has already experienced six years of Trudeau acting like an incompetent leader. The last thing our country needs is him pretending to be a mafia boss that all provinces should fear.
